Introduction and Eligibility Requirements  

Welcome to the ASID Missouri West / Kansas Leadership in Design Scholarship Application.

2019 marks our twelfth year of awarding scholarships to students pursuing a degree in Interior

Design. We have enhanced our program this year with the goal of encouraging and empowering studentsour future emerging professionals and design leaders – to transition into becoming the new voice of our organization.

Four $750 scholarships are available. Scholarships will be awarded based on outstanding leadership and academic achievement while enrolled in an Interior Design program.

Scholarship winners will also receive a voucher to cover their first year of ASID National Membership dues (An $85 value towards the “Advance to ASID Allied” membership program.) The voucher will be honored by ASID MOW / KS upon proof of the recipient’s graduation. 

As a professional member of ASID you are eligible for immediate opportunities to be a change leader as a Committee Chairperson, as well as consideration for a voting position on the ASID MOW / KS Board of Directors.   

Criteria for Scholarship Eligibility

  1. Current enrollment in an Interior Design Program for an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
  2. Successful completion of a minimum of one-year (30 semester hours or the equivalent) studies towards an Interior Design program
  3. Current Student Member of ASID
  4. Minimum GPA of 3.0 
  5. Not a previous recipient of a student scholarship from ASID MOW / KS

The required letters of reference, proof of current enrollment, and official college transcripts need to each be submitted in their own sealed, and signed envelope.

Activity Involvement and Leadership Essay

(You may provide a separate document with your typed responses.)

Please list all academic activities related to your current Interior Design degree studies, such as professional societies, clubs, and honor societies which you are or have been involved. Include dates of affiliation, offices held, and the faculty advisor or sponsor. 

Elaborate on a leadership position you held (from above). Describe an example when you created a significant change or accomplishment in an organization.

What did you contribute and how did you involve others in the process?

Include any obstacles that you had to overcome in the process and the end results of your actions.

Resume and Signature

Please forward your completed application, a copy of current resume, activity involvement and leadership essay, proof of current class schedule, copy of official college transcript, and two letters of reference in one envelope to the mailing address listed on the first page of this application No Later than Monday, October 14, 2019

Completed applications will be reviewed by a scholarship committee appointed by the ASID Missouri West / Kansas Chapter President. The committee’s recommendations will be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors of the Missouri West / Kansas Chapter of ASID. Scholarships will be announced and awarded at the Sherwin Williams Color Forecast event to be held at JCCC on October 25, 2019. You will be contacted in advance of this event with the outcome of your application consideration.
