Student Summit To Be Held At ASID National Conference 2022

(August 16, 2022 – Washington, D.C.) SCALE, the American Society of Interior Designers’ (ASID) annual event for student designers, is joining forces with GATHER 2022, the National Conference by ASID. Held in Miami, FL from September 21-24, the student summit will offer interior design students and emerging professionals a range of opportunities to connect with industry professionals, engage in relevant educational content, and explore the larger world of design that GATHER has to offer.

“ASID’s SCALE at GATHER programming will offer our current students— and future design leaders—an introduction to the profession unlike any other,” said Gary Wheeler, FASID, ASID CEO. “In bringing our student attendees together with practicing design professionals, we hope to provide the next generation of designers the ability to grow their network of practitioners across the nation and gain rich insight into how design can influence and impact lives in their future careers. SCALE at GATHER will provide students with professional guidance and the resources needed to launch their careers and navigate the industry.”

SCALE at GATHER will commence with a welcome from ASID CEO Gary Wheeler, FASID and ASID National Board of Directors Chair Carolyn Noble, ASID, WELL AP, WELL Faculty. Following the kick-off, a presentation by ASID 2021 Designer of Distinction Joey Shimoda, ASID, FAIA and Shimoda Design Group Partner Susan Chang, AIA will detail the role of inspiration and storytelling in the design process.

Student-centric programming will include exclusive Miami-based tours offering an in-person look at office culture and different design solutions across firms, along with product and material exploration. Pre-registration is open now and is required for tours, which will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Key presentations from industry leaders will be held throughout the conference.
